335: Empowering Tools to Use for Anxiety

Kelly Miller, CAPP, author of the book “Jane’s Worry Elephant: A Self-Help Guide for Kids with Anxiety,” is here to share the many tools you can use to both manage your anxiety (I think it’s safe to say almost all of us feel anxious at some point in our lives!) and to help others with theirs. This episode is a conversation with a friend in which we discuss ways to feel better and show up ready to help others!

We also discussed:

  • What’s good in Northern Virginia where Kelly lives

  • Kelly’s experience growing up, specifically with a father who had a stroke at 45

  • How she used her psychology degree to work with traumatic brain injury patients and folks recovering from addiction

  • Her experience being in Brooklyn on September 11 as well as her husband’s experience serving in the Coast Guard and transporting survivors

  • How to talk to kids about drugs

  • How Kelly found a pathway to help her daughter work through severe anxiety

  • Kelly’s journey through health problems and the resilience tools she’s used to manage her anxiety
