72: Nicholas D'Agostino
We’re in for a treat today when we hear how one runner didn’t let a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) get in his way. In fact, he became a runner after he realized that exercising could potentially help his MS. If you’re looking for some inspiration to get out the door, then you’ll want to hear Nick’s story. Nick discusses:
How he found out he had MS
What he did after receiving the diagnosis
Why he runs
The races he has run
How he is looking at a potential new diet to help with the side effects of MS
His favorite running experience
Our Runner of the Week, is running blogger, Jackie Thomas, also known as Life According to J Thom. Jackie is our second youngest runner we’ve ever had on the show (next to Nik Toochek) and shares her experience of running in college and then on to her “working” life. She’s a Jersey girl, just like our Serena Marie, RD.
Talking about Serena Marie, RD, Serena gives us the lowdown on Bulletproof Coffee. You get to hear Serena’s Registered Dietitian approach to coffee, which follows up on the whole caffeine debate which took place on last week’s podcast episode.
Serena and I also have a product review of flip flops called Oofos. We both like them as they are super cushion-y. Serena shares that she has been told by numerous physical therapists not to walk miles and miles in flip flops, but she can’t help herself. I love wearing flip flops to the pool, after a long run, and to the beach. Either way you wear them, they’re super cushion-y and we gave them two thumbs up.
What to check out Oofos, and the pretty hot pink flip flops both of us have? Head over to oofos.com and check them out. Serena and I were given the flip flops to try out when we met the owners, Linda and Duncan, at the Boston Marathon Expo.
Serena and I discussed an article that appeared on the CSNPhilly website just before 40,000 people ran the Broad Street 10 Miler on May 3rd. We share our take on this tongue and cheek article and share how friends of ours have responded.
