161: Mindset and the Holidays
Disclaimer: We discuss psychology and depression in this episode, so please do not use the information presented on this episode for medical treatment or to treat others.
The holidays can be full of joy, connection, and peace—sometimes with a side dish of stress. Serena Marie, RD, and I discuss our top recommendations for how to fill this season with joy while feeling mentally and physically good. We also chat about some gift ideas that we recommend (that we have or want to own). Serena gives listeners an update on her injury and how she is handling the holiday season with not being able to partake in cardio exercise.
This episode could also be called “TRLS Book Club,” because I talk about some of my favorite books, which I’ve previously discussed on the podcast. But before we dive into that, here are some of the websites that Serena and I discuss:
Holiday Gift Ideas
Serena adores the following:
Weighted vest (Serena owns this 12-pound weighted vest, has had two male clients purchase them, and loves this Run Fast interchangeable weighted vest [with 12-, 20-, 40-, or 60-lb options])
Vitamix (Serena has the 200 series Professional model! It’s an older model but it looks identical to the new model and is a little less expensive)
Fit Simplify Resistance Loop Exercise Bands with Instructional Booklet, Carry Bag, eBook, and Online Videos
I (Kari) highly recommend the Phillips Wake Up Light.
Serena and I both like our Armpockets, which we received for free to try out from Armpocket.
We’re both still in love with the Spenko slippers that we received from Spenco at the New City Marathon Expo in 2015.
