194: How to Cultivate a Racer’s Mindset
If you don’t want to hear jokes, laughter, or a bit of “language”, then this isn’t the episode for you (or perhaps an episode for little ears either). I had a blast—and I mean a blast—chatting with husband-wife coaching team of performance psychology expert, Simon Marshall and three-time world triathlon champion, Leslie Paterson.
We discuss the following:
Differences in coaching men versus women and how they view racing
Radical candor
Eating disorders and how they’re very common in the endurance sport industry
Latest research around depression and social media
How to determine if you’re using social media for “stalking”
The interesting way they finished their book
Team "S*it"
What to pack for a race
What to think about when showing up for a race
Serena Marie, RD, and I discuss some listeners’ questions about what we ate before and during our 2015 marathons and our experiences with food. It took us a little while to remember what we ate! We also talked about how Serena has qualified for Boston three times, whether she has run it, and if not, why.
Since I interviewed two coaches for this episode, and right now I am in an intensive coaching class to become certified by the International Coaching Federation, we discussed how to best be of service to runners.
I am working with clients on how to take a holistic approach that is grounded in positive psychology to their lives. I would love to work on certain areas of your life in which you want to see shifts and so much more!
If you’re looking for a training plan, I’m not your girl. If you want help with your energy management, deeper relationships, and/or productivity that matters, then we could be a great fit. Send me an email at Kari@TheRunningLifestyle.com, and we’ll be on our way.
